Zooming into a Kindergarten Orientation

Two kindergarten orientations were held via Zoom for families to participate in.

Wednesday, September 9th, 2020Kindergarten orientation is one of our favorite moments kicking off the academic year. During these unprecedented times, our teachers, faculty and staff planned and prepared an option that would allow for everyone to participate in a safe and healthy fashion. Our Kindergarten teams hosted two virtual orientations via Zoom for students, and their families to participate in. Families had the opportunity to meet their teachers and ask questions as they geared up for the 2020 - 2021 academic year.

Never Forget

Today we honor those who lost their lives and families whose lives were tragically changed on this day 19 years ago. We thank all our brave first responders and active duty veteran military. United we stand.

Juneteenth

Friday, June 19, 2020—“The function of freedom is to free someone else.”
— Toni Morrison, commencement address at Barnard College

Juneteenth is the commemoration of the end of slavery in the United States. The origins of the commemoration date back to June 19th, 1865, when enslaved African Americans in Galveston, Texas first heard that the Civil War had ended, and they were free. Juneteenth gets its name from a combination of June and nineteenth and is also known as Black Independence Day, Juneteenth Independence Day, and Emancipation Day.

The Science Academies of New York, in accordance with Governor Cuomo’s Executive Order marking Juneteenth as a holiday for state workers, will celebrate the holiday in accordance with the state moving forward. We are committed to building a better future based on peace, justice, equity, and equality for all.
