Thursday, September 9th, 2021—It was all smiles and thumbs up from the Atoms on their second day of school of the 2021 - 2022 school year. We hope all of our students, teachers, faculty and staff are having a great year thus far. Thumbs up to a great year, Atoms!

Tuesday, September 14th, 2021—Syracuse Academy of Science and Citizenship elementary is excited to announce that the students will be having two types of physical education classes this year. The first class will focus on teaching fine motor skills and an introduction to various sports, and the second will be mindfulness which will include yoga, and various relaxation techniques such as meditation.
For those not familiar with mindfulness meditation, it is the art of sitting in silence and finding a breathing anchor point (like the belly, nose, or chest) and focusing on your breath? This practice, although in theory may seem very simple, it is in fact quite challenging at times! When one begins to meditate it is very common for the mind to wander, as the mind is always looking for something to do. When this happens, the goal of meditation is to acknowledge the thought, and then try and refocus on the breath. What this does is helps improve concentration skills and patience.

Wednesday, September 8th, 2021—Can you believe we are already into the third week of school? It seems like it was just yesterday that Syracuse Academy of Science and Citizenship elementary school opened its doors to welcome back its students for the 2021 - 2022 school year. We wish all of our students, teachers, faculty and staff a great year filled with knowledge, excitement, and learning. We look forward to seeing and hearing great things from the Atoms this school year. Happy first day of school!

Saturday, September 11th, 2021—It’s hard to believe that 20 years ago to this day, our lives tragically changed. Many of us know where we were when we heard the news that day. Some of us heard it on the radio, or watched the news that morning. While others may have heard the news from a coworker or a family member or friend. A day in history that we will never forget.
Today, we mourn those who lost their lives, and grieve with those who lost friends and family. We would like to take this moment to thank all of our brave first responders, and those who have served or are currently serving in the United States Armed Forces. United we stand.

Wednesday, September 1st, 2021—As summer began to wind down, Syracuse Academy of Science and Citizenship elementary school teachers put their creativity to the test for their Meet the Teacher event that kept health and safety in mind for all. Atoms and their families were invited to attend a Drive Thru Teacher Meet and Greet on Wednesday, September 1st. Families where to stay in their vehicles, as the teachers lined the paths surrounding the school building while holding their hand made poster boards.
As we get ready to wrap up the summer, and welcome back the Atoms for another exciting school year, we wish everyone a healthy and safe school year.

Monday, August 23rd, 2021—It’s hard to believe that the first day of school is next week! To prepare for the upcoming 2021 - 2022 school year, Syracuse Academy of Science and Citizenship elementary school teachers, faculty and staff participated in a week-long Personal Development Training.
Atoms welcomed guest presenters, Laurie Hoover and Cheryl Wells from Empower Federal Credit Union who shared information about their Dollar Dog program. During their session, they discussed the importance of students saving money at an early age. Atoms who currently participate in this program can bring deposits directly to the school and Laurie will take them back to the bank for them!
In addition to guest speakers, teachers also participated in a variety of hands-on team building exercises and activities. Needless to say, they are eager and excited to see the Atoms next week for the first day of school!
Enjoy the rest of your summer Atoms, we look forward to seeing you soon!

Friday, July 23rd, 2021—At Syracuse Academy of Science and Citizenship elementary school, learning is always in session. As these young Atoms try to beat the heat during these summer months, the students take this moment to brush up on their already impressive math and reading comprehension skills. Way to go Atoms, we are so proud of you!

Sunday, July 4th, 2021—From our family to yours, we wish all of our Atoms a very happy, healthy and safe Independence Day! Below are some fun facts about the 4th of July.

Thursday, June 24th, 2021—It's time to celebrate, Atoms because school's out for summer! But before we get ready to celebrate, let's take a quick peak down memory lane of all the fun we had this past week during our last Spirit Days of the school year. For this last week, Atoms had an opportunity to:

Wednesday, June 16th, 2021—Hats off to the future class of 2033! Syracuse Academy of Science and Citizenship elementary school celebrated a very important milestone in any student's academic career, their FIRST graduation ceremony, and most certainly not their last.
On June 16th, without a cloud in the sky, these bright young students and their families, teachers, faculty and staff watched their Atom walk across the stage to receive their Kindergarten diplomas. As Atoms prepared to move their tassels this important academic milestone marks the next step in their academic journey. Words cannot express how excited we are for the students and their families. This year will most certainly go down in the history books, and we look forward to what tomorrow will bring. We invite you to click here to visit our Facebook page, and to view our album, Class of 2033 Kindergarten Graduation to see additional pictures from this historic event. Congratulations, Atoms, a job most certainly well done!

Tuesday, June 15th, 2021—Dare we say that things got a little ‘slimy’ at Syracuse Academy of Science and Citizenship elementary school when the Atoms were left with glue, baking soda and a little saline solution to create their very own slime. For their hands-on, minds-on science experiment, students were tasked with using each of those ingredients to make the perfect slime that had great texture, elasticity, was flexible and of course looked cool - just like the Atoms! Fun, laughter and excitement were had by all with this classic DIY science experiment.
