CSAS 4th Graders Meet Onondaga County Deputies

Onondaga County Sheriffs Deputies Join CSAS 4th Graders

Monday, February 10th, 2025: As part of our Black History Month celebrations, Citizenship & Science Academy of Syracuse fourth-grade students had the incredible opportunity to meet Deputy K. Flournory and Deputy J. Dixon III from the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office!

During their visit, the deputies shared insights into their careers, explaining the role of a sheriff, the steps to becoming an officer, and the importance of serving and protecting the community. Students learned that law enforcement is about more than just enforcing laws—it is about building relationships, engaging with the community, and making a positive impact.

They also discussed academy training, investigations, first aid response, and their community service initiatives. The best part? Our students asked terrific questions and even received some fun gifts!

Thank you to Deputy Flournory and Deputy Dixon for inspiring our young learners and showing them what it means to be a community leader.
