Saturday, December 26th, 2020—Are you up for the Winter Break Challenge? You are in luck, as Syracuse Academy of Science and Citizenship invites you and your family to participate in a fun (optional) game of BINGO. How do you play? Over winter recess, students and their families can complete the activities on the BINGO board. As like regular BINGO, the object is to get five squares in-a-row and then shout, BINGO! This version of BINGO is similar, but with a twist. Complete the activities on the board to get five in-a-row, and take a picture of the completed activity or participation of the activity. Wednesday, December 23rd, 2020—There is snow place like home for Winter Recess! Syracuse Academy of Science and Citizenship school will have a half day on Wednesday, December 23^rd. There will be no school on Thursday, December 24^th through Friday, January 1^st, 2021. Enjoy this long weekend, Atoms! We'll see you next year.

Tuesday, December 22nd, 2020—Looking for a fun and family friendly winter activity? Come check out Syracuse Academy of Science and Citizenship school’s Winter Wonderland extravaganza. Drive through a path of bright lights, listen to the music play and say hi to your favorite teachers. You can also bring a canned good to donate to our Can & Food Drive to help benefit the Food Bank of Central New York. Please see the details below, and we hope you can join us.

Winter Wonderland Event Details

• Date: Tuesday, December 22nd
• Time: 5:00 PM - 6:00 PM
• Location: SAS Citizenship (301 Valley Drive - on your car rider side, Newell St.).
• Cost: FREE - Can bring a canned good to donate to our Can & Food Drive  to benefit the Food Bank of CNY.
• Misc.: Please remain in your car and stay in line to ensure the safety of staff and families.

Dear Citizenship Academy parents and guardians, due to inclement weather conditions, Citizenship Academy building is closed on Thursday, December 17th, 2020. Students are expected to attend classes remotely. Stay safe SASC Atoms.

Important Reminder for Families:

For the 2020-21 school year, should the Syracuse Academy of Science and Citizenship Charter School close for snow days or due to inclement weather, those days will be REMOTE learning days for all students. No in person learning will occur, but students will be expected to attend classes virtually. If you have any questions, please contact your child’s school directly!

Monday, December 7th, 2020—Lend a hand, and give a can as the Syracuse Academy of Science and Citizenship school hosts its annual Can & Food Drive to benefit the Food Bank of CNY. This contactless event kicks-off on Monday, December 7th. Please see the details below. Together we CAN do it!

• Dates: 12/07 - 12/22
• Time & Days: 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday
• Benefits: The Food Bank of CNY
• Contactless Drop Off Location: 301 Valley Drive, Syracuse, NY 13207. Please enter by the main office off of Keen Place. When let in, please drop off in the boxes provided by the doors.

Wednesday, November 25th, 2020—In observance of the Thanksgiving holiday there will be no school on Wednesday, November 25th through Friday, November 27th. School will resume on Monday, November 30th.

SANY in collaboration with Chartwells has developed a [contactless drive through] meal service that will allow students greater access to food while at home.

Who Qualifies

• All students enrolled in SANY Schools are eligible to participate.
• All children 18 or younger are eligible to participate.
• Children do not need to be enrolled in SANY Schools to participate.
• All students are eligible to pick up meals at their enrolled site.

Registration and Pickup
To participate, parents/guardians can pre-register for the following week directly at the pickup locations a week in advance. All you need to do is let the staff at the pick-up location know how many meals you want to pick up the following week on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

• SAS Citizenship - 11/24, 12/1, 12/3 10 am - 12 pm
• SAS Middle School - 11/24, 12/1, 12/3 10 am - 12 pm

• UAS Elementary/High - 11/24, 12/1, 12/3 9 am - 11 am

Cost
Meals are free for all children up to 18 years old.
